Kimball console at the Hinsdale Theatre, Hinsdale, Il.
Former Senate Theatre Kimball Console controls the 3/28 Hinsdale Organ
The Hinsdale Theatre in Hinsdale, Illinois is the current home of the Owl Cinema Organ Society's theatre pipe organ. At present the theatre is closed and the future of the theatre and the organ are in question. Fortunately a recently released CD preserves the magnificient sounds of this unusual instrument.
Don Springer and the Hindale Organ Jim Glass with bass pipes
Don Springer has been the resident organist at the Hinsdale pleasing theatre goers with his excellent playing style before the movie. He recently released a CD on this organ Called "Intermission Interlude"
Jim Glass, shown here with some of the big boys, 32ft Bombarde, has devoted his life to the creation of this organ.
Much effort has been expended to select the best components for this organ. The console is a Kimball from the Senate Theatre on Chicago's westside. Unfortunately the rest of the Senate Kimball was lost when the Riverview Roller Rink was destroyed by fire where the organ was in storage. The Hinsdale organ contains pipework from the Trianon Ballroom and the Tivoli Theatre, these venues located blocks apart at 63rd and Cottage Grove on Chicago's southside.
