CATOE MEMBERSHIP MEETING and
Social on January 6th
In spite of the harsh winter weather that week, there was a healthy turn-out of approximately 80 members and guests for the meeting and social at the Gateway.
The weather also created problems for the Gateway when frozen roof drains caused water leakage into the theatre including some damage to the organ's main chamber where two ranks of pipes were disabled.
There was a short, but spirited meeting where
members discussed and asked questions about the invitation by ATOS for CATOE to re-establish a chapter relationship with the national organ society. 44 members voted in favor of the motion to accept the ATOS invitation with only two members voting in opposition. After the meeting guest artist Don Springer entertained us with selections on the Gateway's Kimball-Wurlitzer and accompanied a comedy short film "Teddy at the Throttle". Don presented an excellent program in spite of the challenge created by the reduced capabilities of the organ. We wish to thank all the members who brought
the great refreshments. It was a good time and was enjoyed by all.
We are sorry to report that CATOE lost 2 long time members in 2000. Mr. Bill Coyne and Mr. Julius Schuster. Our sympathies go out to their family and friends. CATOE received a note from Julius Schuster's wife June which states in part:
"I want you to know how terribly much CATOE meant to Julius. It meant everything to Julius that he belonged to CATOE, and had concerts to go to, where people knew him and let him know he was still a part of the world. He was 87 in July.

For all Dave Wickerham fans
NOTE DATE CHANGE FOR ORGAN PIPER
Dave will be performing at Phipps Center in Hudson, Wi. on January 20th at 2PM.
While Dave is in Badger Land he will be making a cameo appearance at the Organ Piper Music Palace
the following Tuesday January 23rd, and Wednesday January 24th. He had originally planned on playing at the Organ Piper the Tuesday and Wednesday before the Phipps concert, but was unable to make travel arrangements for that period and the Organ Piper dates were moved to the following week. Dave will be joining Peter Conte on April 29th at the San Filippos Victorian Palace 5/80 pipe organ, and will also appear in the Rialto.
