at Rockford"s CORONADO

On Sunday March 25,  2001, at 2:30 PM The Land of Lincoln Theatre Organ Society presents Ron Rhode at the Barton Pipe Organ for their first public show since the reopening of the recently renovated Coronado Theatre at 300 E. Elm Street, Rockford Illinois
Seating is open, Cost: $10.00 advance, $12.00 day of the show. Tickets are available from the Rockford Metro Center , The Coronado box office or any member of LOLTOS. children under 9 free. FORMER NORTOWN WurliTzer moves to Witchita

The late Dr. Bruce Belshaw purchased and removed the organ from the Nortown Theatre on N. Western Ave in the late fifties and built a home to house it in Colorado.  Installation  even included the organ lift which transported  the organist from the basement up into the music room. JATOE members visited the Belshaw home and heard the organ when they visited Denver on their train trip last year.  The organ, a Balaban 3 WurliTzer was installed in the Nortown in 1931 and was probably one of the last new theatre organs in Chicago. After Dr. Belshaws death last year, the organ and home was offered for sale.
The organ was originally a 3/15 enlarged  by Dr, Belshaw to a 3/22  with the addition of more WurliTzer pipework .
The organ was purchased by Witchita Theatre Organ, Inc. (the owner of the organ in Century II  from the NY Paramount)                 Witchita's Michael Coup said the organ is in such beautiful condition and such a jewel of an instrument he wanted to make sure it was preserved. Reginald Foort recording made on the Touring Moller before WW2 have been re-released on CD and  Is available from Organ Historical Society
Recorded 1938-40 for the distinguished HMV label and well  transferred to the digital medium, these performances on the 5m  touring organ weighing 30 tons and built in Maryland for Britain's most popular organist are sure to please Foort fans and collectors  as well.
